Welcome to LifeFamily Church! Whether you're new to our community or considering giving for the first time, we want to share with you the heart behind our approach to stewardship. We believe that our finances are not just a way to meet our own needs but a tool to fuel God’s vision and mission: to see lives transformed through the power of Jesus Christ.
At LifeFamily, we believe that money isn’t ours to begin with. It’s a gift from God, and how we manage it reflects our faith and trust in Him. Below, we share our theology of stewardship and why we approach giving with purpose, joy, and faith.
Hear directly from our Lead Pastor, Randy Phillips, on what we believe about tithing, finances, and financial stewardship.
"The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it."
– Psalm 24:1
At the foundation of our stewardship is the truth that God is the giver of all things. Everything we have—our possessions, our talents, our time—belongs to God. He is the Creator and Sustainer of everything in the universe, and He entrusts us with resources to manage for His purposes. This perspective shifts our focus from ownership to stewardship, recognizing that we are caretakers of the gifts God has entrusted to us. Our role is not to hold onto these gifts but to manage them wisely for His glory and the good of others.
"As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 'Truly I tell you,' he said, 'this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.'"
– Luke 21:1-4
God is the owner of everything, and we are entrusted with managing what belongs to Him. Our giving reflects this stewardship. In the story of the widow's offering, Jesus points out that it’s not about the size of the gift but the heart behind it. The widow gave all she had, demonstrating her trust in God to provide. This act of faith shows that stewardship is about how we manage God’s resources with integrity, accountability, and a generous spirit, whether the gift is large or small.
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."
– 2 Corinthians 9:7-11
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
– Malachi 3:10
Stewardship isn’t just something we do occasionally; it’s a lifestyle. God calls us to give cheerfully, consistently, and generously. In 2 Corinthians, we learn that God doesn’t want us to give out of compulsion but with a willing heart. He promises to bless us abundantly as we give. Our stewardship is an ongoing expression of trust, and it reflects our willingness to partner with God in His mission. The promise in Malachi challenges us to test God by faithfully giving, and He promises to open the floodgates of heaven and bless us beyond measure.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal."
– Matthew 6:19-20
When we give, we are not just contributing to a temporary cause. We are investing in something eternal. Jesus teaches us to store up treasures in heaven rather than on earth, where they can be lost or destroyed. Our stewardship has eternal significance. Every act of generosity, every dollar given, is an investment in transforming lives for eternity. At LifeFamily, we believe that our resources, when used for God’s purposes, make a lasting impact that reaches far beyond this life.

A tithe —which just means “tenth”—is defined as the first 10% of a person’s income before taxes or anything else comes out. When we bring our first and best back to God, He promises to bless the rest. We can’t outgive God. We know tithing is a huge step of obedience, but you’re not in this alone!
